As exchange students from partner universities or Master's students on English-language degree programmes at Paderborn University, you can attend German language courses in the winter and summer semesters. Here you have the opportunity to expand your language skills for everyday university and private life.
German courses
The four-week intensive courses take place during the lecture-free period in March or September and comprise 80 teaching units of 45 minutes each.

Start of enrolment (in PAUL) and placement test (in KOMO): 3rd Feburary, 2025
End of enrolment (in PAUL) and placement test (in KOMO): 4th March, 2025
Start of course: 10th March, 2025
End of course: 4th April, 2025
Placement
- If you already have German language skills but have not yet completed a German course at Paderborn University, you must take a placement test before enrolling.
- The test takes place online via KOMO: detailed instructions.
- Please note the deadlines (see section "Dates" above).
Note: If you have no knowledge of German, you do not need a placement test and can register for A1.1 directly in PAUL.

In addition to the intensive and semester courses, there are other courses with a specific focus, e.g. speaking or creative writing, which are offered both during and outside the lecture period and often take place in blocks.
