Robustness of sensors and sensor systems against environmental conditions for Highly Automated Driving
Overview
The project pursues the development of innovative sensor technology and adapted test procedures for highly automated driving under adverse weather conditions in which current assistance systems do not work reliably. For this purpose, individual sensors are virtually mapped and simulated under bad weather conditions. In addition, overall sensor systems are dynamically tested and optimized with the aid of AI-based methods and cloud connections. Based on this, the research project will develop a virtual test platform for environmental sensor technology that will allow sensor systems to be tested early in the development phase and thus ensure their functionality in any driving situation.
