Action weeks against racism: Workshop for students

Location: Room E 5.333

A series of events is also being held at Paderborn University to mark the Action Weeks against Racism in the Paderborn district. Part of this is a workshop for university students, which will take place on Wednesday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room E 5.333. Registration is required and should be sent by email to genderzentrum@upb.de.

The workshop entitled “Understanding and recognizing racism and discrimination” aims to clarify the terminology of the topic and, for example, show the differences between racism and discrimination or explain exactly what prejudice and stereotypes are. By examining statements and actions as well as forms of structural discrimination, all participants will be given the tools to recognize linguistic and structural patterns, critically classify them and develop strategies for dealing with them. The event will be led by Matthias Zimoch from the Service Center for Anti-Discrimination Work at the Caritas Association Paderborn.
