On Tuesday, 3 September, Martina Leifeld, Nicole Struzek and Brigitte Rohde from the International Office welcomed the new exchange students for the summer semester at an official introductory event at Paderborn University. The 128 international students come from 51 partner universities in 21 different countries. They will all spend the winter semester 2024/25 in Paderborn, with some even staying for a whole year.

During the introductory event, the international students were given an overview of the university and the campus. This was followed by a first visit to the canteen. They were also introduced to the cultural programme they can take part in during the coming semester. The International Office and the student association ‘Eurobiz e. V.’ organise numerous events, including trips to various cities in Germany.

During their first week at Paderborn University, new students take part in ‘intercultural workshops’ organised by the International Office. The events on the topic of ‘Living and studying in Germany’ are designed to help them quickly settle into their new environment. The students also attend a German course in September to prepare for the semester. In addition, the exchange students are supported by 63 mentors - Paderborn students who accompany the exchange students in the first few weeks and support them, for example, in signing rental contracts, making their first purchases or going to the residents' registration office.

Further information can be found on the websites of the International Office and the student initiative Eurobiz.
