Early change of first name and gender entry

Paderborn University is actively committed to equal opportunities and diversity in all fields of the university. It sees the heterogeneity of its university members as an opportunity and works continuously to enable participation for all people on campus and to create an environment in which the diverse needs of the entire university community are recognised.

From the summer semester 2024 , applications and enrolment at Paderborn University will also be possible with the so-called dgti supplementary ID . Further information can be obtained from the Student Secretariat.
In order to make life easier for students who are already studying at the university and to enable them to develop their individual personality in everyday student life at Paderborn University, the gender and/or first name entry can also be changed digitally at an early stage. This does not require an official change process under the Transsexuals Act or the Civil Status Act to have already been initiated or successfully completed.

A corresponding regulation for employees is currently being developed.

Early change of first name and gender entry by self-declaration
Students enrolled at Paderborn University can apply to change their gender entry and first name digitally by self-declaration using the "STS Change of Gender" forms on the PAUL campus management system pages.
For an early change of first name and/or gender details, the "STS Change of Gender" application including self-declaration (included in the digital application under the item "Mandatory declaration when applying with dgti supplementary ID") and a copy of the dgti supplementary ID must be submitted digitally on the pages of the PAUL campus management system in the "Studies" - "Applications" field. The application will then be processed by the Registrar's Office.

A dgti supplementary ID card can be applied for online from the German Society for Transidentity and Intersexuality (dgti) here (cost: €19.90). Further information on this additional document can also be found here.

If you have any queries about the procedure, please contact the relevant administrative office in the Student Secretariat. The contact person for the field of gender diversity at Paderborn University is also the Diversity Officer, Laura Maring (laura.maring@uni-paderborn.de).
