Interdisciplinary lecture series "Cultural Perspectives on Democracy“

Location: H?rsaal O2

From the winter semester 2024/25, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Paderborn University will be organising the new ‘International Lecture Series’. The lecture series, which is organised and coordinated by Prof. Dr Sebastian Luft, Professor of Theoretical Philosophy, and Anke Riebau, Internationalisation Officer at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, is entitled ‘Cultural Perspectives on Democracy’ this semester and is aimed at students of all disciplines and study phases, employees and the interested public. The individual lectures, which are held in English, take place every Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. in lecture theatre O2. Students can receive three ECTS points for attending the course and passing multiple-choice tests. Registration is possible via PAUL.

The lecture series makes an important contribution to expanding the range of courses taught in English. It is also interdisciplinary and cross-institutional. More than fifteen professors and researchers from Paderborn University, Le Mans University, which is part of the COLOURS university alliance, and the University of Cape Town are taking part in the lecture series. On Wednesday, 23 October, Dr Alexandra Hartmann from the Institute of English and American Studies will give a lecture on ‘Wake up America: Democracy in Black Intellectual Tradition’.
