"OWL3D Live 2024" and Mechanical Engineering Forum on 24 September

Location: L-Geb?ude

Mechanical engineering is one of the core competences of the German economy and a key prosperity factor in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL) region. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Paderborn University and the regional 3D printing initiative OWL3D are organising two joint networking events on Tuesday, 24 September to highlight the close cooperation between universities and companies in this field. ‘OWL3D 2024 LIVE’ will start at 12.30 pm in the L building on campus. The annual event is organised by the DMRC - Academic of Paderborn University together with Additive Marking, Condor Medtec, Krause DiMaTec and OWL Maschinenbau. The Mechanical Engineering Forum begins one hour later. All interested parties are cordially invited to register by Friday, 13 September. Both events offer the opportunity to get to know the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the innovative world of additive manufacturing and to engage in dialogue with experts from research and industry.

‘OWL3D Live 2024’

Speakers from Antonius K?ster, Forward AM, Heggemann, HP, Krause DiMaTec, Protiq and other companies will talk about current trends and the industrialisation of additive manufacturing. There will also be a panel discussion with industry experts on the topic of ‘Using digitalisation to exploit the full efficiency and sustainability potential of additive manufacturing’, during which questions from the audience will also be answered. Various regional and international companies from the industry will be inviting participants to further exchange ideas and present their fields of activity in the field of additive manufacturing in an exhibition area. Laboratory tours will also be available during the breaks. These will provide in-depth insights into research science practice at Paderborn University. Further information and the link to registration can be found on the event page.

Mechanical Engineering Forum

The Mechanical Engineering Forum offers a series of exciting presentations on current topics in the industry. Dr Gregor Nüsse from the Forschungsvereinigung Stahlanwendungen e. V. (Research Association for Steel Applications) will speak on the topic of ‘Industrial joint research - shaping excellent research and innovative steel applications together’. There will also be presentations by four scientists from Paderborn University. Prof Dr Thomas Tr?ster will speak on the topic of ‘Individual public transport’, Prof Dr Alexander Schlüter on sustainable production, Prof Dr Sebastian Vogt on ‘Transfer through spin-offs - the OWL start-up ecosystem’ and Prof Dr Werner Homberg on the topic of ‘ILH large-scale equipment - enablers for research’. From 3.30 p.m., participants will also have the opportunity to visit the facilities in the Y-building. There will also be an exhibition on the topics of mobility, lightweight construction and additive manufacturing in the foyer of the L building. The number of participants is limited.
