SABRA (Servicestelle für Antidiskriminierungsberatung Beratung bei Rassismus und Antisemitismus) is a state-funded advice center for anti-discrimination work run by the Jewish Community of Düsseldorf. SABRA's work includes, in particular, individual counseling for those affected by Antisemitism and racism and offers various educational formats for prevention and awareness-raising on the topic of Antisemitism.

The three Antisemitism advice and reporting centers SABRA, ADIRA and Rias NRW will introduce themselves. After a short presentation by the invited speakers, you will have the opportunity to take a look at the day-to-day work of the institutions and talk to the three representatives about current manifestations of Antisemitism in Germany and the situation at universities since October 7, 2023.

On the occasion of the nationwide Diversity Day, the Central Equal Opportunities Officer and the Diversity Officer of Paderborn University invite all interested parties to the event series “You too? First-time academics at UPB” on the topic of social background and classism.

Gender diversity is also becoming increasingly visible at the university, especially in teaching. However, gender diversity, including the linguistic inclusion of this in everyday teaching and learning, is still often experienced as a challenge. How do I deal with new names or neo-pronouns in lectures or seminars? How can I as a teacher think about gender diversity and teach the topic competently in my field?

The series of events will begin with a workshop on the topic of “What is Antisemitism? Recognize, name, act” with ADIRA NRW. In order to gain confidence in dealing with antisemitic incidents, knowledge is needed both about its manifestations and about concrete counter-strategies.

Prof. Dr. Katajun Aminpur, Commissioner for Criticism of Racism at the University of Cologne, will give a lecture on Tuesday, 25 June at 4 p.m. on the topic of “University structures and criticism of racism”. The lecture will be held digitally in cooperation with the course taught by Matthias Philipper, Sociology at the Institute of Human Sciences at Paderborn University.

The Foreign Language Day has been taking place for around 30 years and has brought several hundred teachers, trainee teachers and students interested in current topics, questions and methods of modern foreign language teaching to Paderborn University every year since 2014.
