The modern working world is characterised by increasing digitalisation and technologisation. Rising energy costs, staff shortages and a lack of skilled workers are just some of the challenges that companies have to face today. For this reason, the Heinz Nixdorf Institute at Paderborn University, in cooperation with ELHA-MASCHINENBAU Liemke KG and GPDM mbH in the Weiterbildungsverbund OWL (WBV OWL), has organised a series of events to show companies intelligent solutions and support them on their way to a digitalised working world. The series, funded by the European Union and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, is aimed in particular at small and medium-sized enterprises from the OWL region. The next event will take place on Thursday, 16 November, under the title "From digital retrofit solutions to AI - Bringing existing manufacturing and administrative departments to Industry 4.0 level!" at Sparkasse Minden (K?nigswall 2, 32423 Minden). Admission is free, registration is requested. The other dates are 17 January in Gütersloh and 20 March in Herford. Further information on the series of events can be found on the website of the continuing education network.

Future issues in view

In the WBV OWL, small and medium-sized enterprises from OWL join forces to react jointly to the technical requirements of digital structural change. During the events, participants have the opportunity to actively engage with the digitalisation of the world of work and to learn about approaches to Working World 4.0. "At the series of events, we want to sensitise companies and employees to the topic with the help of exhibits and example applications from practice. This should enable them to build up suitable teaching and further training structures for future topics such as artificial intelligence or cobots. In addition, companies have the opportunity to network with each other. This will make it easier for them to get in touch with each other and enable the introduction of new technologies," explains Alena Tu?ek, a research associate in the Product Creation Group of the Heinz Nixdorf Institute. Tu?ek, also offers free consultations at companies' premises.
